Cold Start - Lister LR1 & SR1 Engines In The Snow
Both these engines were non-working 'finds' when acquired. The SR1 (blue) was a barn find on a Deeping farm, originally from a beet cutter. Blue was its colour when first sold in the mid-1970s. This engine had been idle for well over a decade, and its fuel tank was home to all sorts of wildlife! After getting it working again, I coupled it to a 2.2kVA alternator which provides 240V and 110V. The LR1 (green) is from a cement mixer, as you may be able to tell from the sprocket on the drive shaft - this engine was found in a shed near Leicester. This engine was completely seized when found. After restoration, I fitted a Lucas 17ACR alternator, which sometimes charges car batteries with an invertor attached.
